The focus of the member meeting was the ongoing effort to sign the formal recognition agreement. The agreement will set out the arrangements for pharmacists and foundation trainees to be involved with discussions and consultations on changes, operations, and working conditions at the company through the PDA. Members also had the opportunity to raise and discuss any common concerns. This discussion underlined the importance of having a collective voice on issues that directly impact pharmacists and trainees across England, Scotland, and Wales.
As the officially recognised trade union at Superdrug, agreements secured by the PDA will benefit all pharmacists and trainees working within the company, regardless of union membership. However, the direction of the PDA’s work in Superdrug is shaped by members. PDA members can participate in union meetings, raise issues, and respond to surveys to collectively shape decisions and priorities. Should an individual need representation in a process such as disciplinary or grievance, only PDA members can call on the PDA for union representation.
Pharmacists working at Superdrug who are not yet PDA members are encouraged to get involved. By joining the PDA Union, pharmacists gain a voice and impact decisions that affect day-to-day work and the future.
Those who are interested in finding out more, getting involved, or becoming a PDA Workplace Rep at Superdrug can do so by emailing [email protected].
