Health Equals focuses on the need to rebuild foundations that impact everyone’s health and wellbeing, from quality homes, stable jobs, social connections and neighbourhoods with green spaces and clean air. However, it is said that currently in the UK, lives are being cut short by up to 16 years due to these foundations not being available to all members of society in the same way.
Health Equals wants to work with policymakers to ensure action is put front-and-centre of national policymaking.
The PDA believes that, regardless of differing characteristics, everyone deserves access to equal health and wellbeing opportunities and so, is proud to be a Health Equals supporter.
Paul Day, PDA Union Director said, “Pharmacists see the impact of inequality on the patients they deal with every day and recognise that sometimes resolving that social injustice can do even more for the person’s wellbeing than the medicine or care being provided at that moment. The PDA can add the profession’s perspective to this important campaigning and will highlight Health Equals important work to our members. Just as pharmacists achieve more by being part of the PDA, so the PDA can achieve more for members and their patients by working alongside the campaign’s other members and supporters too.”
