This level of membership is intended for pharmacists who will be practising as Independent Prescribers (IPs) with the ability to make Differentiated Diagnoses in support of an NHS National or Locally Commissioned Service.
PDA members asked. The PDA listened. The PDA delivered.
Many of the PDA’s valued members expressed that they wanted the IP extension to be available as part of hospital and community membership. The PDA is delighted to say that it’s now here!
What’s changed?
From 20 August 2025, any pharmacist working in a hospital or community setting can benefit from the IP extension with their PDA membership scheme.
Why it matters
This change allows PDA members to carry out IP activities under hospital or community membership, supporting their practice and patient care.
How to get it
It’s easy to add the IP extension:
- Renewing soon?
PDA members can add the IP extension during their membership renewal. - Not due to renew yet?
PDA members can apply for a mid-term adjustment to upgrade their membership. - Not a member yet?
Those who are not yet members can simply join online and select hospital with IP or community with IP.
When will this be available?
The new options will be available from 12pm on 20 August 2025.
Those that have any questions or need support, contact the PDA Member Support Centre on 0121 694 7000. The PDA is here to help!
The PDA thanks its members for being a part of its pharmacy community!
The PDA also hopes that members enjoy this new benefit and continue to grow in their prescribing journey.
Not yet a PDA member?
If you have not yet joined the PDA, we encourage you to join today and ask your colleagues to do the same.
Membership is FREE to pharmacy students, trainee pharmacists and for the first three months of being newly qualified.
