Adam Simpson, the CEO of the Association of Optometrists, Cait Allen the CEO of the British Chiropractic Association, Martin Woodrow, the CEO of the British Dental Association, Rachel Podolak, the CEO of the British Medical Association, David Calpin CEO of the British Veterinary Association and Mark Koziol Chairman of the Pharmacists’ Defence Association met to discuss a wide range of topics. One of these was the new possibilities being offered for their respective members in healthcare because of the governments healthcare policy prioritisation. They were hosted in London on Tuesday 11 November by Matthew Price from Lloyd Whyte who is a PDA Plus partner.
This is the sixth year in a row that Mark Koziol has represented pharmacists at this important meeting of healthcare leaders. Mark said, “The PDA has always engaged in practical collaboration with the other healthcare professions. Discussions at these excellent meetings are always wide ranging and they provide a powerful opportunity for experienced healthcare leaders to shape their individual strategies, operations and organisational policies in a way that creates synergy for the benefit of patients as well as their respective individual members.”
He added, “The pharmacy leadership landscape has been changing over these last few years. For the PDA, with more than 40,000 members and now the largest pharmacy representative body, meeting, collaborating, and sharing perspectives with the leaders of other healthcare professional bodies is an important activity, for the PDA and for pharmacists more generally. Being together with the leaders of the other professions makes me realise the extent to which we have the same goals but that we also face similar challenges.”
