PDA Union continues recognition campaign in Northern Ireland

The PDA Union has continued to work closely with GP pharmacist employers in Northern Ireland to achieve a voluntary recognition agreement that will enable members' terms and conditions to be the subject of collective bargaining.

Pharmacists at LloydsPharmacy begin their formal campaign for union recognition

In response to calls from pharmacists at LloydsPharmacy (Lloyds), the PDA Union has applied to the government’s Central Arbitration Committee for trade union recognition at the second largest community pharmacy employer in the UK. This is especially important at this time because the company have announced plans to make job losses and changes to employment contracts.

Black Lives Matter – what can we do?

Many of you will have seen a video of the murder of George Floyd in the US. Such incidents aren’t something new, but nowadays they are being filmed and shared on social media. Mr Floyd’s murder is widely seen as a consequence of a racist society that devalues black lives. We say Black Lives matter and want action to be taken.

Prov-Reg pharmacist salaries should match “newly qualified” rates

The PDA welcome Boots confirming that Prov-Reg pharmacists will be paid the same starting rate as would have been paid to newly qualified pharmacists, as agreed with the PDA.

Pharmacy teams encouraged to join trade unions as health and safety at work issues become higher profile

As health and safety risks in pharmacies increase due to the relaxation of the COVID19 lockdown in England, and employees may need to challenge the safety of their workplaces, the PDA are recommending all members of the pharmacy team join a trade union in order to have an independent, expert voice at work.
