VACCINATIONS: All vaccinations delivered by suitably trained pharmacists have always been covered by indemnity insurance as part of the standard PDA membership apart from Covid-19. For new membership renewals after January 1st, 2026, Covid-19 vaccinations are now also automatically covered.

    The PDA welcomes the announcement from Chancellor Rachel Reeves that the recommendations of the NHS Pay Review Body (PRB) will be accepted in full, and pharmacists employed on NHS Agenda for Change (AfC) terms and conditions will receive a pay increase of 5.5%.

  • PDA evaluates the renewed debate on the self-selection from open displays of Pharmacy (P) medicines in community pharmacies

    In 2012, the Pharmacists’ Defence Association (PDA) and other organisations successfully rejected proposals allowing Pharmacy (P) medicines to be self-selected from open displays in community pharmacies. This victory was crucial in preserving the integrity of the P medicines category, as it prevented them from being sold alongside general sale list (GSL) medicines and non-medicinal items.
